Art That Resonates Beyond Dance
The Relevé Collaborative’s mission is to foster the art of ballet locally and nationally by providing dedicated spaces, cultivating community appreciation, and fostering collaboration, education, and artistic growth among dancers, choreographers, and the public alike.
Laura Hilley, Artistic Director and Founder
Ms. Hilley began training at Mobile Ballet at age three. As her passion for the art grew and her performance opportunities increased—under the artistic direction of Winthrop Corey—she became singularly focused on dance.
After multiple summer intensives in New York City, first with American Ballet Theatre and then with The School of American Ballet, Ms. Hilley relocated to Houston to train full-time with Houston Ballet Academy on merit scholarship. While there, she had numerous opportunities to perform works by Stanton Welch and Ben Stevenson O.B.E. with Houston Ballet.
Ms. Hilley then became a member of Cincinnati Ballet, where she worked with choreographer Adam Hougland and toured with the company to The Kennedy Center. Some of her favorite reps include Val Caniparoli’s Lady of the Camellias, Victoria Morgan’s Cinderella, and Septime Webre’s Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan.
After leaving Cincinnati Ballet, Ms. Hilley returned to Houston and joined Uptown Dance Company, where she was a company member, instructor, and director of marketing and communications for five seasons. Afterwards, Ms. Hilley went freelance and started teaching at Memorial Dance Center, Houston Ballet, and Coomer Ballet Conservatory—where she is currently the pre-professional lower school director.
With her love of teaching and performing, she is sought as a guest performer and master instructor throughout the Houston community and region.

Dear TRC Supporters,
The Relevé Collaborative has been a dream of mine for years — and I am thrilled that it finally came to fruition. I am a firm believer in the arts and the importance of its presence in people’s lives.
Going freelance years ago was a big leap of faith, and while it turned out well—it was terrifying. I had a small community and some contacts, but didn’t feel I had enough to really “start” anything. I am grateful for the work that was offered to me, and I loved the process of being freelance and dancing in a community while working for myself. This solidified that this was something I wanted to undertake myself as a way to bring freelance dancers and choreographers with a common goal together—to create beauty and innovation to the stage through dance. I am immensely blessed to have a much wider community of people that are aligned with my vision and goals to allow me to start The Relevé Collaborative.
